Mama Meg’s, a wholesale ice cream sandwich maker, is easiest to find at Thursdays on First (11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.). The business, owned by David and Meghan Hewitt, used to be based in the old Benny’s Rootbeer Stand. Now they’re on the streets and selling products to concessioners. They do have the distinction, though, of selling the most historied, hand-rolled ice cream sandwiches in the city; they’ve been around since 1958.
