AUSTIN — Austin broke ground Wednesday for its new, $35 million community recreation center.

Having surpassed both its public and private fundraising goals, the project has been thoroughly embraced by the community in and around Austin.

The groundbreaking at Fourth Avenue and Fourth Street Northeast was met with a crowd that showed that strong support.

Amenities planned for the new recreation center in Austin include a fully equipped fitness studio, wellness floor, indoor running and walking track, lap and leisure pools and a warm water therapy pool. An indoor playground, youth center and community gathering space are also planned. Courtesy photo
