Fire officials rescue woman from highway bridge

A woman was pulled to safety Tuesday after climbing over a protective fence on the 41st Street Northwest overpass over U.S. Highway 52 in Rochester.

According to authorities, two bystanders held on to the woman as Rochester firefighters and police responded to the scene at about 2:30 p.m. Police used rope and car jumper cables to keep all three individuals in place while rescuers moved into position under the north side of the bridge. The woman was outside of the fence, so fire officials maneuvered a rescue bucket to the bridge to retrieve the woman.
