Lourdes grad leads salute to late president

When George H.W. Bush, the 41st president of the United States, is laid to rest in Texas today, U.S. Navy pilots will honor one of their own with an unprecedented 21-plane missing man formation flyover.

Mike Shaughnessy, a 2002 Rochester Lourdes graduate and 2006 Naval Academy graduate, will lead one of the five squadrons over the services today. Shaughnessy, a Lt. Commander in the Navy, arrived in Texas Tuesday morning along with squadrons of F/A-18 Hornet jets from Naval Air Station Oceana for today’s services.
