WABASHA — If you’d like to look over some beautiful landscapes and don’t mind keeping your eyes peeled for some winged residents, the National Eagle Center has a job for you.

On Jan. 19, the Eagle Center will host the 15th Annual NEC Golden Eagle Survey.

Golden eagles winter in the bluff lands around Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. The NEC survey is part of an ongoing project to learn more about the golden eagle population in the bluff lands region.

Volunteers will be assigned regions to tour and count golden eagles in order to determine the species’ numbers. The Wintering Golden Eagle Survey gathers important data to document the regular wintering population of golden eagles.

The final training session for volunteers is noon Saturday at Whitewater State Park. To volunteer, email golden@nationaleaglecenter.org. For more information, visit the National Eagle Center website at www.nationaleaglecenter.org/golden-eagle-project/golden-eagles-in-minnesota.
