Closed roads, crashes galore follow heavy snow across region

With the weekend blizzard gone — only its mess left behind — one thing is clear: Rochester took the worst of it.

With snow falling as fast as 3 inches per hour in some places, Southeast Minnesota was hammered by a snowstorm that started Saturday evening and ended in the early Sunday.

A total of 13.5 inches of snow fell in Rochester, with 10.5 inches recorded at Rochester International Airport, according to the National Weather Service in La Crosse. Kasson also reached the 13-inch mark, and there were snowfall totals reported as high as 12 inches ...
