Holly Ebel: The story of the morels

We’re not too far from the weeks when many of us will be foraging through the woods in search of those elusive foods that magically appear in spring — watercress, ramps, fiddlehead ferns and of course the biggest prize of all, morels.

By doing this, we are following in the footsteps of our earliest ancestors, who foraged to survive. We’re doing it because we love both the hunt and the harvest. More into the summer there will be leaves, berries, nuts, flowers and other mushrooms that will bring is into the woods. Right now most of us will be happy to be outside again, searching the ground.
